With four young kids at home and a husband in the U.S. Navy, Shelly Villa knew she wanted to finish the bachelor’s degree she started 19 years ago, but needed to find a program that would fit her lifestyle. Having already tried a traditional campus experience and community college classes, Shelly enrolled online at SNHU and received a scholarship from Operation Homefront. Her husband, Sal, who has been deployed four times, was able to transfer military education for college credits as he pursued his degree online at SNHU in preparation for post-military goals. The couple graduated together in 2019; Shelly earned her bachelor’s and Sal earned his associate degree — both in criminal justice.
